Those That Saved me This Year Part I

Music Of The Year Part I

To say this year has been hard on my wallet in relation to music is somewhat of an understatement. I decided to keep my new years resolution this year (for once) and embarked on what one might call a student’s worst nightmare; to not illegally download an entire album for exactly a year. I succeeded, but only just. With that in mind, this is my list of top ten albums of 2008.

Top Ten Albums 2008

10. Lightspeed Champion – Falling Off the Lavender Bridge

Totally original and brilliantly epic debut from the former Test-Icicle Dev Hynes

09. Vampire Weekend – Vampire Weekend – Afro-Pop at it’s finest from the New York Based band

08. These New Puritans – Beat Pyramid – Arrogance seeps from every note, yet somehow mesmerising and totally enchanting debut album.

07. Laura Marling – Alas I Cannot Swim- Folk at it’s finest. A beautifully crafted album, with a genuinely unique talent at the helm

06. MGMT – Oracular Spectacular – The anthem for many peoples summer, deceptively good debut album that just gets better and better with every listen.

Part II will be full reviews.

It won't be a long wait don't worry.
